About Fabric
The Fiber Innovation and Research Center does not just develop new fibers for the textile and fashion industry, but also shows the possibilities these new fibers present by creating sustainable fabrics from them. The Fiber Center is currently working on the development of a number of innovative fabrics that can be used for various products.

We believe in the fascinating possibilities of fiber innovation.

Denim

No Fish Denim was created by a global team on five continents with a common mission to bring truly sustainable selvedge denim into global fashion. No Fish Denim is the first comprehensive label for denim that guarantees the highest sustainability standards. It combines natural material, traditional craftsmanship and newest technology to create truly sustainable selvedge denim.

Connecting people in outlying regions with centralised economies of the world, and consumers of fashion with traditional economies of Asia, No Fish Denim takes advantage of current opportunities in the industry. No Fish Denim is made with the most sustainable materials to date. It is made from 100% organic cotton and dyed with natural indigo. To integrate a higher diversity of fiber, the denim is also available in a blend of 50% organic cotton and 50% jute, and 50% organic cotton/50% banana fiber.

During the production process, latest technology and traditional craftsmanship are combined to create a high quality selvedge denim with minimal environmental impact. Only the best materials and production processes become part of the denim, which ensures that all fabrics that carry the No Fish Denim label comply with the highest environmental and quality standards of the fashion industry.

The denim is produced in Northern Bangladesh. It is Fair Trade certified, 100% ethical and sustainable. As with all fabrics by the Fiber Innovation and Research Center, there is full transparency over the entire supply chain of the denim, and Sustainability Performance Indicators can be traced as desired.

Banana Fabric

Possible applications of banana fiber are in 100% banana fibre fabrics or in blends with other fibers, such as cotton. 100% banana fabric is lightweight and strong. It is frequently used to make summer clothes, home textiles, ropes and baskets. At CHP, banana fabric is used to make comfortable cushion covers.

While Banana fiber is slightly coarse on its own, it becomes a softer, durable fabric when blended with cotton, that can be used in a variety of products. A blend of 50% organic cotton and 50% banana fiber is suitable to be woven both by machine and by hand. The blend can be used to produce home textiles, such as sustainable kitchen towels.
